That being said, I haven’t written anything in over four months. As someone who typically posted something 1-2 times a week, four months is quite the pause. Why has it been so long you ask? (Well, I know you didn’t really ask that, after all I am included in that 99.9%!)

There hasn’t been much for me to say. Towards the end of last year, Christina and I began praying for what God has called us to do next in our lives. We felt (and still do) sure of what that was to be, but as of now we really don’t have much to update anyone on. I guess I thought would take a break from writing anything while we prayed and sought direction, and then go back posting as usual once I had something to say on that end.

That was over four months ago.

Now let’s be honest. In the grand scheme of life four months really isn’t all that long. However, and surely any adult would agree, in the moment, no matter how short or long it is, it can sometimes feel like forever. Especially when you are trying to pursue what you believe God is calling you to, yet you seem to keep getting stuck.

So then you start to wonder if perhaps you were just wrong, or maybe crazy (or both). Yes, periods of waiting and not being totally sure of what to do can be confusing and frustrating, but I am reminded today of what David wrote in Psalm 27,

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

So we wait, not passively as to give up, but ready and trusting in God’s goodness and timing. And isn’t that what we are striving for to begin with, trusting in God? It’s easy to say you trust in God and who he is when it isn’t costing you anything.

Therefore, when it seems what you are hoping for is good and God-honoring, yet things still don’t seem to be progressing anywhere, we have a chance to put our trust to the test.

During this time, Christina and I have ultimately prayed that no matter happens, we want to be found faithful. Maybe you’re in a period of waiting as well, or maybe not. Regardless, God cares less about what you do and more about why you do what you do. What good is it to accomplish all your hopes and dreams, all the while being unfaithful to the God whose judgment is the only one that matters in the end?

So to everyone holding your breath, I have finally posted something so you can all breathe now. But please, not everyone at once!

And while you do that, here’s to hoping that in the end, no matter what happens, we may be found faithful.
